AUD UWorld Supplemental Course (2026): Condensed Lessons for UWorld Students

Kyle Ashcraft, CPA · 2019 CPA Exam Scores · 95 FAR · 98 BEC · 91 REG · 90 AUD

You bought UWorld for AUD, you have been working the questions, and your scores are not moving the way you expected. You read the explanation, agree with it, and then miss the next question that changes one fact. In AUD that happens a lot, because the answer choices often include two that sound right. That is often a "the concept has not clicked" problem rather than a question-volume problem.

I am not going to tell you to drop UWorld. If you own it, keep it. UWorld has one of the two largest question banks in the category, along with Gleim, and I will say so plainly. What I can offer is short AUD teaching that sits alongside it, for the topics where you need the idea explained, not another set of questions.

Quick answer: keep UWorld as your main AUD course for practice, and add short, teaching-first lessons only for the topics your question results show are not landing. That is what an AUD UWorld supplement should do.

Last updated October 2026. UWorld figures are from UWorld's own course pages as read on October 13 and 17, 2026. Competitor prices are from Gleim's pages (read October 14, 2026) and NINJA's pages (checked October 10, 2026). Maxwell student figures come from Maxwell CPA Review onboarding surveys as of October 2026 and describe my students, not every candidate.

Who is an AUD UWorld supplement for?

  • You already bought UWorld and your AUD practice scores have stalled even though you keep doing questions.
  • You can read an explanation and agree with it, then pick the wrong one of two answers that both sound right.
  • You are working full time and need one topic explained in one evening, not another set of lectures.
  • You are retaking AUD and want specific topics explained a different way, not the whole course again.

AUD is closer to the passing line for retakers than FAR is. About two in five of my AUD students are retaking (39% of 118 AUD survey respondents), and their median last score is 65, against 58 for FAR retakers. A gap that size is more likely a few topics than a whole course, which is what a supplement is for.

Keep UWorld if you have it. UWorld's pages describe more than 9,000 multiple-choice questions and more than 500 task-based simulations across its sections, with simulation solution videos and adaptive study tools. A supplement only needs to fix the part that is not working, which is usually the explanation of a handful of hard topics.

How does Maxwell CPA Review work alongside UWorld?

You do not follow two courses in parallel. UWorld stays your practice engine. You use Maxwell CPA Review by topic, when your results show a topic is not clicking.

  1. Work UWorld as planned. When you keep missing questions on a topic, stop doing more questions on it.
  2. Watch my lesson on that topic. Every AUD topic is a short lesson you can jump to directly.
  3. Do its quiz set the same evening. About 30 questions, so you find out right away whether the explanation landed.
  4. Go back to UWorld for its question bank, mock exams and timed practice on that topic.

Both are built to the same AICPA blueprint, so the topics line up. You are hearing the hard parts a second way, not learning a different exam.

Which AUD topics should UWorld students prioritize?

The AICPA weights AUD by content area, and the exam gives you 78 multiple-choice questions and 7 task-based simulations in four hours.

AUD content areaWeightMy priority
III. Performing Further Procedures and Obtaining Evidence30 to 40%Highest
II. Assessing Risk and Developing a Planned Response25 to 35%High
I. Ethics, Professional Responsibilities and General Principles15 to 25%Medium
IV. Forming Conclusions and Reporting10 to 20%Medium

If your UWorld results show weak spots, these are the topics I would fix first, because each one rewards understanding over memorizing:

  • Subsequent events and subsequently discovered facts (Area III)
  • Sampling techniques (Area III), including how sampling differs for controls and for substantive tests
  • Tests of controls versus substantive procedures (Area III). See the same 25 purchase orders, tested twice.
  • Materiality and assessing the risks of material misstatement (Area II)
  • Reporting on audit engagements, where the wording of the opinion matters (Area IV)

Area weights and topic names are from the AICPA Uniform CPA Examination Blueprints effective January 2026. The priority column and topic list are my own study-priority judgment, not an AICPA classification.

What does the teaching actually look like?

Here is the kind of explanation students tell me they needed, using subsequent events, a topic where the exam changes one fact and flips the answer.

So, let's say the company's year end is December 31 and the auditor signs the report on March 1. Between those two dates, two things happen. Everything that happens in that window is a "subsequent event," and there are only two kinds, so the first question is always the same: did the condition already exist at December 31?

What happenedDid it exist at Dec. 31?Treatment
January 20: a large customer files for bankruptcy because it was already in financial trouble at year endYes, the trouble was thereRecognized: adjust the financial statements, such as the allowance for doubtful accounts
February 10: a fire destroys a warehouseNo, it happened afterNot recognized: disclose it in the notes if it is material, and do not adjust the numbers

The rule is not "bad news after year end means adjust." The bankruptcy adjusts the numbers because the evidence only confirmed a condition that was already true on December 31. The fire does not, because the warehouse was fine on December 31. If you understand that one test, the exam can swap in a new event, such as a lawsuit settled after year end over something that happened before it, a stock issuance or a natural disaster, and you can still sort it.

If you memorized a list of events instead, you will get the familiar ones and miss the unfamiliar one, which is where the points are.

What is included for AUD?

Video lectures6 hours, in short topic lessons
Practice MCQs750
Task-based simulations32
AlsoTextbook, study outline, final review, full simulated exam

For comparison, UWorld's own pages list more than 1,400 video lectures, more than 9,000 multiple-choice questions and more than 500 task-based simulations across its sections, plus two full AUD mock exams. Those totals cover all sections, and UWorld does not give separate AUD counts. UWorld has far more questions than I do. What I offer is less material, selected and taught.

The course includes all six sections, so if you also use UWorld for FAR or REG, the same approach works there.

What does it cost compared with buying a second full course?

Maxwell CPA Review is $49 a month for all six sections, billed monthly, cancel anytime. You can use it for the weeks you need it and stop when AUD is done.

OptionPublished priceWhat it adds to UWorld
A second full course, such as Gleim Traditional CPA Review$2,499Another full library you also will not finish
Gleim CPA Mega Test Bank$999 for all six sections, or $250 per sectionMore questions, which you may not need
NINJA Supplement$67 a monthMore questions, notes and audio
Maxwell CPA Review$49 a month, all six sectionsCondensed teaching on the topics that are not landing

Competitor prices are from Gleim's pages (read October 14, 2026) and NINJA's pages (checked October 10, 2026), and they change often, so confirm them before you buy.

If your problem is practice volume, you already have one of the biggest banks. If your problem is that AUD concepts are not clicking even though you keep answering questions, a second test bank does not fix that. Teaching does.

Who teaches it?

I do, all of it. I am a CPA who scored 90 on AUD, 95 on FAR, 98 on BEC and 91 on REG in 2019, and I create every lecture, textbook page and study outline in Maxwell CPA Review myself. There is no content team, which is why the course is short: one person decided what the exam rewards and taught that.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use Maxwell CPA Review as a supplement to UWorld for AUD?

Yes. Keep UWorld as your main practice course and use Maxwell CPA Review by topic when your results show a topic is not clicking: watch the short lesson, do its quiz set the same evening, then return to UWorld for its question bank and mock exams.

Do I need to cancel UWorld to use Maxwell CPA Review?

No. If you already own UWorld, keep it. Maxwell CPA Review is built to the same AICPA blueprint and works alongside it.

Is Maxwell CPA Review enough on its own for AUD?

Yes. It is a complete course with 6 hours of AUD video lectures, 750 practice questions, 32 simulations, a textbook, an outline, a full simulated exam and a final review. In my onboarding survey, 30 of 44 students use it as their primary course and 14 use it as a supplement.

My UWorld AUD scores are stuck. Should I do more questions?

Not as the first change. In Maxwell CPA Review's practice data, students who reported a pass and students who reported a fail answered about the same number of questions; the difference was how much of the lecture content they had watched. Fix understanding in the weak topics first, then practice.

What does an AUD UWorld supplement cost?
